The demands of Motherhood are higher than ever.

Before becoming mothers, many women are already living at their limits.

Fast-paced work, emotional load, mental load, and the constant drive to “hold everything together” can leave the nervous system in a heightened state long before pregnancy even begins.

Conception and pregnancy then draw deeply on physical, emotional and mineral reserves.

Birth is not the finish line. It's the threshold of a profound, long-term transformation that most women are not prepared for.

Mothers were never meant to do this alone.
Shared caregiving, rest, nourishment, and intergenerational support were once built into daily life. Today, mothers face high expectations with far less community support. This gap, combined with biological depletion, leaves many mothers feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or like they are not coping.

A mother’s nervous system is not designed to hold this level of constant stress.

This is not a personal failing. It is a mismatch between what your biology needs and the modern world you are trying to mother in.

What mothers need is not more pressure. They need new knowledge, new practices, and new forms of support that honour the nervous system as the foundation of wellbeing.

When the nervous system is supported, everything else becomes more possible: presence, connection, vitality, patience, creativity, and love.

Does any of this feel familiar?

  • Since becoming a mother, I have been experiencing brain fog, anxiety, weight changes, and exhaustion.
My body and mind feel different, and I don’t feel like myself.

  • I have seen my GP, but the support offered feels limited.
I have even been told it is “just part of being a mother,” which makes me feel unseen and dismissed.

  • Some days I worry that I might be depressed because I feel so low.
I am not convinced medication is the whole answer. I know something deeper is happening in my body.

  • My sensitivity is so much higher now. Noise, mess, bright lights, constant stimulation.
It feels like my nervous system is always switched on and there is no off switch.

  • I live in a constant state of overwhelm. The smallest things tip me over the edge, even when I know it is not my fault.

  • Even when I do sleep, I still wake up exhausted. Rest does not restore me the way it used to.

  • Self care feels impossible. Even basic needs like eating slowly, going to the toilet alone, or taking a breath feel out of reach.

  • I avoid going out or making plans because I do not have the energy or confidence I used to.
I feel anxious in situations that never used to bother me.

  • I am more irritable or reactive than I want to be. I can feel rage rise in me and I hate it.
This does not feel like the person I once was.

  • I forget things constantly.
Managing the mental load feels like balancing twenty open tabs in my mind with no ability to close any of them.

  • I wish there was one reliable and trustworthy place where I could learn how to care for my body, mind, and nervous system during motherhood.

  • I want to feel more joy, more connection, more presence in motherhood.
Instead, I feel stuck, overwhelmed, and unsure how to shift out of this state.

You do not need to be or do more.
You need to be supported differently.

Dr Oscar's MotherCare Community offers real ongoing support for your motherhood journey.

Medical Doctor and Author of The Postnatal Depletion Cure, Dr Oscar Serrallach first identified postnatal depletion and has spent over fifteen years researching maternal biology, the maternal brain, hormones, micronutrient depletion, and the nervous system changes that occur for women in Motherhood.

“In my clinic, I do not see Mothers who have failed or who are not trying hard enough. What I do see every day are Mothers who are under-supported, physically and emotionally depleted, exhausted and stressed. They are at the end of their tether, with no relief in sight.”

"I feel like a whole human again not in messy fragments of overwhelm and emptiness. The program is so rich in wisdom and perspective and not to mention personally tailored support. No question will go unanswered… It truly is one of the most supportive containers I have entered into, in one of my most fragile states and to come out on the other side I do feel like I have new wings in a way, to move and grow forward into my next phase. I love that I still have connection to this community and that I will forever have access to this amazing wisdom."

Caroline Cowley is the warm, grounding presence at the heart of the Dr Oscar's MotherCare Community.

A mother herself, Caroline brings lived experience alongside genuine care for the mothers she supports. She holds space without judgment, listens without agenda, and has a gift for making women feel less alone in the messy, tender reality of motherhood.

Inside Dr Oscar's MotherCare Community, Caroline hosts the community, guides the Mothers Wellness Library — offering gentle, nervous system-aware practices — and shows up consistently between live sessions to offer support, connection, and a steadying presence when mothers need it most.

Caroline believes that mothers deserve to be held as much as they hold others. That belief shapes everything she brings to this community.

Dr Oscar's MotherCare Community is open to mothers and caregivers across all family structures, cultures, identities and lived experiences.

We hold motherhood with care and without a narrow definition.

The path into motherhood takes many forms — pregnancy, birth, adoption, fostering, step-motherhood, surrogacy, IVF and assisted conception, queer parenthood, solo motherhood, co-parenting and kinship care — alongside caregiving roles that carry the work and weight of mothering. We welcome mothers and caregivers across all family structures, cultures, identities and lived experiences.

We do so for a clinical reason, not only a compassionate one. Becoming a mother is a real developmental transition — the brain, nervous system and sense of self reorganise around caring for a child — and much of that reshaping happens whatever the path into motherhood. The maternal transition is real wherever it occurs.

Matrescence is rarely linear. It can hold grief, loss, infertility, birth trauma, identity change and overwhelm alongside joy, and no two journeys look the same.

This is the work we exist to support: meeting modern motherhood honestly, with understanding and clinical grounding — so that no mother is left measuring herself against an ideal of what motherhood "should" look like, or treated as though she has simply strayed from who she was before.
