A clinical blind spot

ADHD is not experienced in a vacuum.

For a Mother, ADHD can sit alongside the profound biological, emotional and practical demands of matrescence. Yet the intersection of ADHD and Motherhood remains under-researched.

Many Mothers are left trying to manage overwhelm, inattention, exhaustion, emotional reactivity and the pressure of caring for others, while the people supporting them may not have been given the full clinical picture.

For your clinical practice

What this can change in your work with Mothers

You may already be supporting Mothers who are exhausted, overwhelmed, struggling to focus, feeling emotionally reactive, or telling you they no longer feel like themselves. This series helps you build a more useful toolbox for the conversations and care decisions that follow.

  • Learn about adjunct care options that many health professionals can use within scope, without needing an additional credential.
  • Recognise when ADHD may be part of a more complex maternal-health picture, so support can begin earlier.
  • Ask better questions across preconception, pregnancy and the postpartum period.
  • Understand the links between neurobiology, stress, motivation and emotional regulation.
  • Support Mothers with greater empathy, context, clinical curiosity and a clearer practical toolbox.
  • Know when further assessment, referral or collaborative care may be needed.
